New study shows accurate vital sign monitoring from a simple 30-second video

A new clinical trial confirms Shen AI's technology accurately measures heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure trends using only a smartphone camera.

New study shows accurate vital sign monitoring from a simple 30-second video

At Shen AI, we believe that understanding your health should be simple and accessible. That’s why we’ve developed technology that can measure vital signs using the camera on your smartphone or laptop. We recently completed a clinical trial to test the accuracy of our latest software, and we want to share the results with you.

How it works

Our technology analyzes a short video of a person's face to measure key vital signs. It looks for tiny, invisible changes in skin color to measure blood flow, and small head movements to improve accuracy. This allows us to get readings for heart rate, heart-rate variability, breathing rate, and blood pressure without any contact.

What we found in our study

The trial included 132 adult volunteers and compared our software’s measurements against standard medical devices. Here are some of the key findings:

•Heart Rate: The measurements were very accurate. On average, the difference from a standard ECG was less than a single beat per minute, even with videos as short as 30 seconds.

•Breathing Rate: The system provided reliable breathing rate measurements, which are useful for understanding respiratory health.

•Blood Pressure: While still an emerging area for this technology, the results for blood pressure are very promising. The study shows that our software can track important trends, helping to identify potential issues.

Making health monitoring easier

These results are a positive step toward making health monitoring more convenient for everyone. This technology can help people check their vital signs from the comfort of their home, support doctors in monitoring patients remotely, and provide valuable data for wellness and insurance applications.

We are committed to continuing our research and refining our technology. Our goal is to provide a reliable and easy-to-use tool that empowers people to take a more active role in their health.
