Wellness score
As we know, there is more to health than just the number on the scale. A wellness score is a single, easy-to-read score summarizing overall health based on key physiological markers. These key markers can include indicators such as:
Weight
Blood pressure
Waist circumference
CMI
Waist-to-hip ratio
Fat mass
Heart rate variability
Taken in totality, these indicators produce a wellness score that can give insight into someone’s overall health. A score of 100 is the gold standard for “wellness”, meaning someone is in optimal health. A score of around 75 may indicate need for consistency with diet and exercise and greater prioritization of one’s health. Finally, a score of 50 would indicate disease, and as such, likely multiple medications, poor quality of life, and limited body function.
While other health indicators get into the nitty gritty details of someone’s health and risk for disease, a wellness score is a high-level marker that considers the greater picture. This can be a good starting point for an individual looking to contextualize their health on a scale of one to 100.
