What is

Face scan health check

AI health monitoring like Shen.AI can integrate remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), remote ballistocardiography (rBCG), and a facial video to generate key insights remotely. With a simple video scan of your face, your smartphone camera “sees” your face, capturing a video that rPPG and rBCG can then analyze.

Using face-scanning technology and AI magic, rPPG detects color fluctuations within the skin that correspond to blood volume changes in the vessels. This process is similar to how pulse oximeters work, but instead of direct contact with the skin, rPPG can measure these changes remotely. Using data on the changes in intensity and rhythm of skin color and blood volume, an rPPG signal can accurately estimate key health metrics like heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and more.
A face scan health check will also conduct rBCG. rBCG technology collects and measures subtle body movements that are caused by heart activity (e.g., ejection of blood into the vasculature), typically originating from the head and neck. Once the data is captured through a medium such as a face scan, rBCG analyzes information about somebody’s heart rate, heart rate variability, and other types of cardiac parameters.

A face scan health check is advantageous in that it is non-invasive and remote, meaning neither physical contact with the body nor an office visit are required. With Shen.AI, you can do a face scan health check to collect over 25 health metrics with just a smartphone, including vital signs and health risks.
