What is

Coronary death risk

Coronary heart disease, also known as coronary artery disease or ischemic heart disease, refers to a condition in which the blood supply to the heart is blocked or disrupted by buildup of fatty deposits in the coronary arteries. This gradual accumulation of plaques refers to a process known as atherosclerosis. Several lifestyle factors can cause atherosclerosis, such as excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

Coronary heart disease can cause several complications, including angina (chest pain), heart attack, heart failure, and arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms). Additionally, coronary heart disease is unfortunately a major cause of death globally. As such, it is important to estimate somebody’s risk of coronary death in order to institute appropriate treatment and lifestyle interventions. Someone’s coronary death risk will predict the chances that someone will die due to coronary disease through analysis of cardiovascular health markers.
