Before installing Shen AI, it's worth checking that your target devices and development environment meet the minimum requirements.

This guide provides a high-level overview of the supported operating systems, browsers, hardware, and connectivity requirements. For the latest platform-specific details, refer to the corresponding SDK documentation.

Supported operating systems and platforms

The table below summarizes the currently supported operating systems and environments.

Camera requirements

Shen AI performs measurements by analyzing a live video stream from the user's face. To ensure reliable measurements, the camera must meet a few technical requirements.

The device should provide:

- access to the camera through the platform's native camera APIs,
- a stable video stream at 30 frames per second (FPS),
- a minimum resolution of 640 × 480 pixels.

Before starting a scan, make sure your application has permission to access the camera and that no other application is currently using it.

For the best measurement quality, users should also be able to position their entire face within the camera preview under stable lighting conditions.

Internet connectivity

An internet connection is required when initializing the SDK so that your application's license can be validated.

For the most reliable experience, initialize the SDK before starting a measurement and ensure the device has a stable network connection during this process.

If your application loses connectivity during initialization, the SDK may not be able to complete the license validation successfully.

Browser requirements

If you're integrating the Web SDK, there are a few additional requirements to consider. The application must be served over HTTPS. During local development, http://localhost is also supported.

The Web SDK also requires a cross-origin isolated environment, which means your server must be configured with the appropriate security headers. If your application runs inside an iframe, the iframe must also allow cross-origin isolation.

Because of these browser requirements, Android WebView is not supported. If you're embedding web content inside an Android application, use Chrome Custom Tabs instead.

Known limitations

Most modern smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers meet the technical requirements for running Shen AI. However, there are a few situations where the SDK may not work as expected.

Common compatibility issues include:

- unsupported operating system or browser versions,
- missing camera permissions,
- cameras that don't meet the minimum video requirements,
- cameras already in use by another application,
- unsupported browser environments, such as Android WebView.

Checking these requirements before beginning your integration can help avoid common setup and troubleshooting issues later.

Before moving on, verify that:

- your target platform is supported,
- your operating system meets the minimum version requirements,
- your application can access a compatible camera,
- the camera provides a stable 30 FPS video stream at a minimum resolution of 640 × 480,
- your application has camera permissions,
- your environment meets the additional browser requirements if you're building for the web.
