Preparing your app for Google Play review

Preparing your app for Google Play review

Publishing an application with Shen AI inside involves more than integrating the SDK. Before submitting your app to Google Play, it's worth reviewing how health-related features are described throughout your product.

Google reviews your store listing together with the application itself, paying particular attention to health claims, permissions, privacy disclosures, and the overall user experience.

Preparing these elements in advance can help avoid unnecessary review delays.

Keep your messaging consistent

Your Google Play listing should accurately describe what your application does. If your product is intended for wellness, avoid wording that suggests medical diagnosis or treatment unless your application has the appropriate regulatory status and uses the Medical Device SDK.

The same terminology should appear consistently throughout your store listing, onboarding screens, measurement flow, and results.

Users shouldn't receive a different impression after installing the app than they did when reading the Play Store description.

Explain how measurements work

A short explanation before the first scan helps users understand what to expect and reinforces the information they've already seen in your store listing.

For example, explain that:

- the SDK captures a short video using the device's camera,
- Shen AI analyzes subtle physiological signals visible in that recording,
- measurements are estimated from those signals,
- facial images and recordings are not stored or transferred.

Keep the explanation consistent throughout your application. Users shouldn't receive one message in your Google Play store description and a different one once they start a measurement.

Present results appropriately

Just as importantly as the measurements themselves, consider how results are described and interpreted. Instead of presenting values as definitive health facts, explain that they are estimates derived from the current measurement session and should be interpreted within your product's intended use.

Review the wording used on your results screen, notifications, reports, and any health summaries to make sure it matches your Google Play listing and your application's overall positioning.

Note: This is especially important for applications targeting the US market under the FDA General Wellness framework. For more information, see Intended use under FDA General Wellness.

Before you submit

A final review before submission can help avoid unnecessary delays.

Confirm that:

- your App Store description matches the app's functionality,
- onboarding explains what users should expect,
- measurement results use appropriate terminology,
- required disclaimers are shown where applicable,
- privacy information and consent flows are complete.
